The Pitch – Artopia

While shooting the band Ghosty, The Pitch asked me to stay and shoot the rest of Artopia, a party filled with music, art, fashion and alcohol.

The Pitch – Ghosty

For this weeks Pitch Magazine I had the great fortune to shoot for the cover. The story was on a local Kansas City band, Ghosty, and their new self titled record. Thank you to the guys of Ghosty for putting up with my harassment and crazy ideas.

There are some flaws in the portrait, but I am happy that I tried something different and that the Pitch went with it. Check out the article at the The Pitch or pick up the hardcopy and check out the cover. I feel very honored to have my picture on the cover.

KC’s Best Restaurants – Second Post

My second day of Restaurant shooting took me to River Market in the morning for a wonderful diner with a great breakfast. Columbus Park for Italian and a hipster sandwich shop and ended back in Brookside at a French Bistro. http://www.kcbestrestaurants.com/.

KC’s Best Restaurants – First Post

Recently I have taken a new job with a new company building a restaurant guide book to Kansas City. Over the next 2 months I will photograph the 100 best restaurants in the Kansas City area. So far I have just shot just 5, but with more coming this week and then the weeks after. I am going to blog my favorite shots as I take them, but look for the book at the end of the summer. The guide book will be called KC’s Best Restaurants, their website is http://www.kcbestrestaurants.com/.

Happy Easter

To celebrate Easter today Mélanie and I spent most of the day enjoying the wonderful weather and going on a hike in Swope Park. The trail ended up being much longer than we expected and I think we were in the way of the mountain bikers who passed us on the narrow path about every 10 minutes. Although I wish I could have spent the day eating far too much with my family, we had a great Easter enjoying the great outdoors.

KC’s Best Restaurants – Jessie

I am starting work next week for a new company, KC’s Best Restaurants and I will be shooting 100 restaurants over the course of the next 2 months! Be prepared for a slew of restaurant and food pictures to come over the weeks. Below is a picture of my new boss Jessie Burke.

Forgotten Kansas City

If you look hard enough in Kansas City you can find “castles” hidden away and in many cases forgotten by time. Formally public works buildings, city offices and even private residences, many of these architectural abnormalities have fallen into disrepair however the bare structure remains. Mélanie and I visited one of these relics last week and went exploring. This building, a former city works house, can be found on the outskirts of the Jazz district on Vine St. just south of East 19th.

Art Hill

Mélanie and I were in St. Louis this last weekend. We spent some time enjoying the nice weather in Forest Park after looking at some wonderful art, including a killer photography exhibit at the St. Louis Art Museum.
