I visited my brother Tom in Chicago 2 weekends ago and I couldn’t pass such beautiful backlight.
For the last couple weeks I have been visiting the Occupy encampment still filling a Kansas City park. I was drawn to visit the camp for the obvious reasons, but also because I wanted to meet the people who were sticking it out through the winter and after the daily media attention had long stopped. I want to tell the story about the people who have chosen to live in a homeless camp/political occupation and how they manage to do just that. These are just a few of the pictures from the time I’ve spent there.
While in Chicago this last weekend, Mélanie, her friend Aundrey and I went to the Art Institute of Chicago and spent the afternoon looking at wonderful art. After the requisite Ferris Bueller introspective staring I had a lot fun making pictures of people around art.
The first real (more than an inch) snow fall of the year, and probably the only one. What started as a short walk around the neighborhood ended as a four-mile walk around the city.
I am currently in the middle of a much needed portfolio revamp and I am in desperate need of all interested parties. After much deliberation I have arrived at this edit, however I always want a second opinion and I need more eyes. So have at it, tell me what pictures you hate and (hopefully) which ones I can’t leave out.
Two weekends ago we spent the Sunday walking around the Kansas City Zoo and being that I never use my 70-200 I brought it with and took some pictures of the animals.
The still edit for my story on the Missouri Irish Brigade Civil War Reenactors that I shot last September has been long delayed. Every time I would start an edit, frustration and uncertainty would prevail and I would walk away saving it for fresh eyes and mind later. 4 months later, my first edit is done.
Give me your opinion, tell me what you think works, what does not. This is 8 of 1000 and I never believe I’ve found the prefect way to put it together.
