The first major city we stopped in on our “Great American Roadtrip” was Seattle, WA and we fell in love with it. So much greenery and a very neat city. Here are just a couple images from Seattle and being a tourist.

Monorail. (I insisted that we must ride the monorail, I am a Simpsons nerd and anyone who has seen the Monorail episode will, I think, understand)
My mom’s Birthday was a couple days ago on August 2nd. Everyday I am thankful for how lucky I am to have her on my side. A great woman and anyone who sees this should wish her (and my father) a happy birthday as well.
Above, Dawn holds my “pseudo-cousin” Megan’s son.
My dad’s birthday was a few days ago on July 28th. My parents are two of the most supportive people out there and I thank them greatly for all they do for me. The first picture I would say is the most common look I get from him whenever I have my camera up/I am talking too much/just about most days.
Back to the road trip posting with Craters of the Moon National Park. The park, located in the middle of nowhere Idaho is unlike anyplace else I have been. It is the result of a volcanic eruption thousands of years ago that has charred the land ever since. It is truly beautiful, in a barron, dead sorta way.
Our first big stop was in Jackson, Wyoming, just on the outskirts of Grand Tetons National Park. Coming across the Rocky Mountains from the desert around Casper, the Tetons appear on the horizon. Hiking around them is fantastic, with great views of the mountains and the occasional bear run in. One of the best stops of our trip.
Fireworks display for Bastille Day, Chaumont-en-Vexin, France. Mélanie’s hometown.
Our road trip has been over now for 2 weeks, but I am finally getting back to posting pictures! I’ll continue our story where I left off (well just before). While in Casper our wonderful hosts invited us to go see a college rodeo competition, CNFR (or College National Finals Rodeo) going on in Casper. We were only able to stay for an hour, however it was great to see a sport and culture I had never been exposed to. I feel like a real American now.
Technically this title is wrong, I have already headed out. On Monday I left the country for what will be at least a year. Tuesday Mélanie and I were in Iceland and since Wednesday we have been in France where we both will be for awhile. Lots of pictures to come including catching up on road trip pictures, Iceland, and my last few days in the US with family in St. Louis and Chicago.
To tide you over until I can get more up, here is Mélanie during one of our last days in St. Louis
We are currently in Seattle, however these were taken several days ago. In one week we have put roughly 2500 miles on my car with more to go. Last saturday it wasn’t even certain we would still be able to do the trip. However the broken windshield from the flying scrap metal was able to be fixed that same day and we keep traveling.
Outside Casper, Wyoming.
