Last night the solar eclipse was visible in western half of the United States and, luckily, if you stood on a hill in Kansas City you could see the Ring of Fire just before the sun set.
Since I was 5 or 6 I have dreamed of seeing a solar eclipse (I have always been a big nerd) and even though clouds covered the sun at the point of full eclipse, I can honestly say that there are few things I have seen in life that were more magical than watching the moon block out the sun. Now I will wait patiently and hope that I am fortunate enough to be in the right place for the next one.

After a cloudy morning, the sun came out making it a beautiful, if not hot, day in Kansas City. Driving home from some restaurant shoots I passed The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts and the way the light reflected off made me double back and park to make a few pictures.
Last week I photographed 4 up and coming tech companies in the Kansas City area. Front Flip, Hurrdat, RareWire and Sporting Innovations. The shoots were a lot of fun, even for spending the whole day photographing people working behind computers. Check out the stories in this issue of the Pitch or online to read about Hurrdat, RareWire and Sporting Innovations.

My third post from my restaurant photography exploits is a selection of a few of the places I visited last week, still slowly wading through the outtakes. As always these are for KC’s Best Restaurants and visit the website, http://www.kcbestrestaurants.com/.
